Mark A. Berkoff
Mark A. Berkoff is a partner with Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg, LLP in Chicago and chairs its Fi- nancial Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice Group. He regularly represents debtors, creditors' committees and bondholders in complex commercial chapter 11 cases in diverse industries. He has handled all aspects of chapter 11 proceedings, from pre-bankruptcy planning through plan confir- mation and post-confirmation matters. Mr. Berkoff is experienced in workouts, out-of-court compo- sitions and business reorganizations/restructurings, and regularly represents secured creditors and landlords in chapter 11 proceedings, buyers of assets in and out of bankruptcy court, directors and officers, and trustees. He has also prosecuted and defended involuntary petitions in bankruptcy, rep- resented assignees, handled assignments for the benefit of creditors, and prosecuted and defended hundreds of preference cases. Mr. Berkoff is recognized in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business as one of the country's leading bankruptcy and insolvency lawyers. He has also been designated an Illinois Super Lawyer from 2005-14, is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights law, and is listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Law. Mr. Berkoff received the Turnaround Management Association's (TMA) 2013 Small Company Turnaround of the Year Award and its 2010 Mid-Size Transaction of the Year Award. He received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1983 and his J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1986.
