Kathleen A. Laughlin
Kathleen A. Laughlin is the standing chapter 13 trustee for the District of Nebraska in Omaha and has served since 1986. She administers all chapter 13 bankruptcies filed in the federal district of Nebraska. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Laughlin’s legal experience included clerking for Hon. Timothy J. Mahoney of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nebraska, founding her own law firm, and<br>working at the Douglas County Attorney’s Office and as the Legal Aid Society in Omaha. Prior to law school, she was a social worker. Her background also includes psychosocial and cancer genetic research at Creighton University School of Medicine and the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. In addition, she was also a professor of social welfare, and a medical social worker and administrator for<br>10 years. Ms. Laughlin is a member of the Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas Bar Associations, the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees and ABI. She received her B.S. from Duchesne College of the Sacred Heart and the University of Omaha, her Master’s in social work in 1971 from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and her J.D. in 1982 from Creighton University School of Law.
