James R. Savin

James R. Savin is a partner with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington, D.C., where his practice focuses on corporate restructurings and bankruptcy law with an emphasis on official and informal creditor groups. He has more than 20 years of experience advising on contentious and non-contentious restructuring matters in a range of industries. Mr. Savin has experience in financial restructur- ings, unsecured creditor representations, including official committees, secured creditor representations, distressed-asset sales and acquisitions, health care and life sciences, hotels, oil and gas, real estate, solar, telecommunications, infrastructure and transportation, shipping and offshore services, special situations and retail. He has been recognized in Chambers USA for Bankruptcy/Restructuring from 2009-18 and in The Legal 500 US for Corporate Restructuring (including Bankruptcy) from 2017-18. He is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia. Mr. Savin received his B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994 and his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1997.
