Bruce S. Nathan, Esq.
Bruce S. Nathan is a partner with Lowenstein Sandler LLP in New York and has more than 40 years of experience in the bankruptcy and insolvency field. He is a recognized leader nationwide in trade creditor rights and the representation of trade creditors in bankruptcy and other legal matters. Mr. Nathan has represented trade and other unsecured creditors, unsecured creditors’ committees, secured creditors, and other interested parties in many of the larger chapter 11 cases that have been filed. He also handles letters of credit, guarantees, security, consignment, bailment, tolling, and other agreements and legal credit issues for the credit departments of institutional clients. Mr. Nathan received the Top Hat Award in 2011,a prestigious annual award honoring extraordinary executives and professionals in the credit industry.He also co-chaired the Avoiding Powers Committee that worked with ABI’s Commission to Study theReform of Chapter 11, and he argued against the repeal of the special BAPCPA protections for goods providers and commercial lessors during ABI’s Great Debates at its 2010 Annual Spring Meeting. He isa frequent presenter at industry conferences throughout the country, as well as a prolific author regarding bankruptcy and creditors’ rights topics in various legal and trade publications. Mr. Nathan co-authoredABI’s Trade Creditor’s Risk-Mitigation Tools and Remedies Manual, published in 2019 and available atstore.abi.org. He has also contributed to the ABI Journal, is a former member of ABI’s Board of Directors and is a former co-chair of ABI’s Unsecured Trade Creditors Committee. Mr. Nathan received hisB.A. Phi Beta Kappa in 1976 from the University of Rochester, his M.B.A. in 1980 from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and his J.D. in 1980 from the University of PennsylvaniaLaw School.
