Shon Hastings

Hon. Shon Hastings is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the District of North Dakota in Fargo, appointed in September 2011. She is also designated to preside over bankruptcy cases in the District of Nebraska and the District of Minnesota. Judge Hastings began hearing cases in the District of Nebraska in early 2014 and is currently assigned 20 percent of chapter 7, 11 and 12 bankruptcy cases in Nebraska. She also serves as a mediator for bankruptcy cases in the District of Minnesota. Prior to her appointment, Judge Hastings served as a federal judicial law clerk for two years, associate attorney for a civil litigation firm in Minneapolis for several years and Assistant U.S. Attorney in Fargo for almost 14 years. She was ap-<br>pointed Chief of the Civil Division in January 2009. While working as an AUSA, Judge Hastings served on several Department of Justice working groups, and she frequently spoke on financial litigation issues as a faculty member at the DOJ National Advocacy Center. She received her undergraduate degree and J.D. from the University of North Dakota.
