Mr. Douglas E. Deutsch
Douglas E. Deutsch is a partner with Clifford Chance US LLP in New York in its Restructuring and Insolvency practice. For more than 25 years, he has represented creditors, agents, sponsors, committees and debtors in complex corporate restructurings, both in court and out of court. His experience includes substantial representations in cross-border matters, having represented parties in scores of mattes involving companies located in Latin America, APAC and Europe. Mr. Deutsch’s recent representations have covered a diverse range of industries, including restructurings involving energy production, battery manufacturing, shipping, metals and mining, retail, aviation and finance. He is a regular speaker and writer on bankruptcy law topics and is recommended for corporate restructuring in The Legal 500. Mr. Deutsch has been active in INSOL and ABI, having previously served as ABI’s Vice President-Education and co-chair of numerous ABI conferences. He received his B.S. from Drew University and his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the ABI Law Review. After graduation, he clerked for the Western District of Texas and then worked as an associate at a Texas law firm. He subsequently returned to St. John’s to obtain his LL.M. and was awarded the first American Bankruptcy Institute Scholarship.
