Warren E. Agin is managing director of Digital Strategy & Solutions at Elevate Services in Boston and a member of its Global Leadership Team. He provides subject-matter expertise, builds machine learning systems, and consults in the areas of data analytics, application of artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. He has also published multiple papers on the application of machine learning techniques to legal case outcomes in the bankruptcy field. Previously, Mr. Agin was part of Elevate’s data science group, which provides uniquely qualified services in legal analytics, legal data science and training, risk management, and legal data strategy consulting. He also founded and currently chairs the American Bar Association’s Legal Analytics Committee, which helps business lawyers understand how to use artificial intelligence and other analytic techniques. A practicing lawyer for almost 30 years,Mr. Agin has taught legal analytics as an adjunct professor at BostonCollege Law School and serves on the Governing Council for the ABA’s Center for Innovation.Prior to working with Elevate, he was a partner at Swiggart & Agin, LLC, a corporate and bankruptcy boutique he co-founded in 2000, and he served as a chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee. Mr. Agin has authored Bankruptcy and Secured Lending in Cyberspace, 3rd Ed. (West 2007) (the first book to discuss the use of technology in bankruptcy practice) and the Bankruptcy and Intellectual Property Desk book (ABA 2016), and he has frequently lectured on using machine learning and data in legal practice for groups such as the American Bar Association, the National Conference of Lawyers andCPAs, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Thomson Publishing and the Institute of LegalInformation Theory and Techniques. He received his undergraduate degree in business administration with a minor in economics from Washington University in St. Louis and his J.D. from BostonCollege Law School.
