Dena DeFazio

Dena M. DeFazio is an associate with Barclay Damon LLP in Albany, N.Y., and focuses her practice on regulatory and compliance issues in the health care and human services industry. These matters include audits and investigations, reimbursement issues, the provision of tele health services, and health information privacy and security compliance, including HIPAA and the 21st Century Cures Act. Ms.DeFazio has experience working with behavioral health providers, home care agencies, mental health providers, and agencies serving individuals with developmental disabilities. She also routinely assists with research, writing and presentations, and drafts memoranda and other transactional and litigation documents. Ms. DeFazio routinely conducts trainings and presentations for health care practitioners, administrators and employees on supporting the LGBTQIA+ community in professional health care environments. She also assists employers with labor and employment-related matters pertaining to theLGBTQIA+ workforce. Ms. DeFazio received her B.S. from the State University of New York at Brock-port, her M.S.W. from the University of Buffalo and her J.D. summa cum laude from Albany LawSchool, where she was a member of the Albany Law Review.
