Thomas E. Hoffman

Thomas E. Hoffman is a banking industry consumer regulatory and compliance and a commercial financial restructuring and bankruptcy attorney with Barnes &amp; Thornburg LLP in Minneapolis and offers banking, financial services and other institutional clients decades of experience working both in-house as bank counsel and in private practice. In consumer matters, he advises on legal and regulatory compliance matters pertaining to default servicing across consumer lines of business, including analyzing and managing legal risk issues in collections, bankruptcy, foreclosure, replevin, and secured and unsecured claims. In commercial matters, he works with the lending divisions of financial institutions and mort-<br>gage, trust, equipment finance and insurance companies and other creditors on commercial restructuring,<br>workout and bankruptcy matters. Mr. Hoffman previously worked more than 25 years as an in-house attorney at Wells Fargo &amp; Co. He frequently presents at continuing legal education seminars in Minnesota and nationally. Mr. Hoffman is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section, the Hennepin County Bar Association and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota’s Bankruptcy Practice Committee. He also is a former adjunct professor at both William Mitchell College of Law and St. Thomas Law School, and he is a former investigator with the Fourth Judicial District<br>Ethics Committee. Mr. Hoffman is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for 2017-19 and in Minnesota<br>Super Lawyers from 2003-08. He received his B.A. from Holy Cross College and his J.D. in 1983 from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
