Terri L. Gardner
Terri L. Gardner is a partner in the Raleigh, N.C., office of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP and has represented lenders, creditors committees and publicly and privately held debtors in workouts, business bankruptcy cases and litigation during her 36 years in practice. She is a North Carolina Certi- fied Bankruptcy Specialist and Board Certified as in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification. Ms. Gardner has been active in and served as chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the North Carolina Bar Association from 2000-01. She also served on the boards of the American Board of Certification, the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization, and the North Carolina chapters of the Turnaround Management Association and IWIRC for many years. Ms. Gardner served as co-chair of ABI's Ethics Committee from 2006-08, served on the advisory board for and as chair of the Southeast Bankruptcy Workshop, participated in the ABI National Fee Study, and has spoken at many ABI confer- ences. She was chosen as one of the top 50 women lawyers in North Carolina from 2007-12 and named a Super Lawyer in Bankruptcy Law from 2007-17. In 2006, she was also the first woman named by Busi- ness North Carolina to the "Legal Elite Hall of Fame" for the practice of bankruptcy law, and since 2009 she has been recognized annually in Chambers Partners USA as a bankruptcy and restructuring attorney in North Carolina. In 2008, Ms. Gardner was awarded the James E. Cross, Jr. Leadership award from the Board of Legal Specialization of the North Carolina State Bar in recognition of her leadership as a Certified Bankruptcy Specialist. Most recently, she as been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for her work in bankruptcy and debtor/creditors rights/insolvency and reorganization law (2013-17). Ms. Gardner received her B.A. magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Wake Forest University in 1978 and her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1981, where she served on the Wake Forest Law Review.
