Steven J. Weisz

Steven J. Weisz is a member of Cozen O’Connor in Toronto and concentrates his practice on bankruptcy and insolvency law. He has more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of complex domestic and multinational insolvencies. Mr. Weisz regularly represents purchasers of distressed debt and assets, debtors, directors, court-appointed officers and major stakeholders of insolvent businesses. Prior to joining the firm, he was a founding member of Weisz Fell Kour, a boutique law firm providing services exclusively in commercial restructuring, litigation and business law in Toronto. Before founding his firm, he was a leader of the insolvency and restructuring group at a national law firm. Mr. Weisz has been recognized as a leader in insolvency law by Chambers and Partners, Lexpert, Best Lawyers, ILFR and Who’s Who Legal. He is a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada (IIC) and the IIC’s Social Media and Intervention Committees. He also is general editor of the National Creditor Debtor Review, as well as a former executive of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and past president of its Toronto Chapter. Mr. Weisz received his B.A. in economics and math from the University of Toronto – Trinity College and his LL.B. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.
