Stephen Clapp

Stephen N. Clapp is president and CEO of Curae Health in Clinton, Tenn., a nonprofit company focused on rural hospitals. He developed the concept for the formation Curae Health in 2014, and it has acquired six hospitals since its inception, growing the company to more than $200 million in net revenue. In late 2018, Curae filed for chapter 11 protection, ensuring the hospitals continued operation. Prior to Curae, Mr. Clapp was a co-founder of Restoration Healthcare, serving as its president and CEO. The company’s purpose was to partner with local physicians to acquire and save rural hospitals. Restoration Healthcare quickly grew, with three hospitals owned and managing a county-owned hospital, totaling more than<br>$100 million. Mr. Clapp served as the transitional interim CEO during the acquisition at the facilities. Mr. Clapp’s health care experience began with the Baptist Health System of East Tennessee, a nonprofit multi-hospital system. During his 12-year tenure, he rose from planning analyst to senior vice president of Business Development, with responsibilities including strategic planning, certificate-of-need development, marketing, physician practice management, PPO network, medical office buildings and hospital oversight. In addition to his position with Curae, Mr. Clapp is president and CEO of Strategic Healthcare Advisers, a health care consulting firm. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Execu-<br>tives. Mr. Clapp received his Bachelor’s in finance from Tennessee Tech University and his M.B.A. in<br>marketing from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
