Shari L. Heyen
Shari L. Heyen is a shareholder with Greenberg Traurig, LLP in Houston and is experienced in complex bankruptcy, restructuring, insolvency and commercial litigation matters. She is a Certified Public Ac- countant and has represented numerous creditors' committees, debtors, bank groups, acquirers and other significant constituencies in national chapter 11 cases and workout proceedings, including complex oil, gas and energy cases. Ms. Heyer has broad experience in the prosecution and defense of fiduciary litiga- tion, foreclosures, real estate, oil and gas, health care, receiverships, turnover and commercial litigation matters. She has been a Commissioner Judge for the City of Houston since 2008, was a faculty member of the Norton Bankruptcy Institute from 2009-12, and served as a board member of the Association of Women Attorneys for the Houston Bar Association from 2005-07. She is also an ABI member and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, as well as a member of the American, Federal, Houston and Texas State Bar Associations, the Turnaround Management Association, the Commercial Finance Association, the Houston Bankruptcy Conference and the Bar Association of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Heyen has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insol- vency and Reorganization Law since 2010, and was featured in Texas's Best Lawyers from 2010-14 and as a Texas Super Lawyer from 2004-14. Rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, she is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for all four Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Heyer received her B.S. magna cum laude from Oklahoma Christian University and her J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, and also attended Oxford University in England.
