Sam Schulhofer-Wohl

Dr. Sam Schulhofer-Wohl is senior vice president and director of financial policy with the FederalReserve Bank of Chicago, where he oversees its insurance and financial markets teams and its financial stability council. He also serves as a liaison to the New York Fed’s market operations, monitoring and analysis (MOMA) group and on the Chicago Fed’s loan committee. Mr. Schulhofer-Wohl’s research has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, Quantitative Economics, Demography, theReview of Economic Dynamics and the Journal of Labor Economics, among other journals. He joined the Chicago Fed in 2016 as a senior economist and research advisor from the Federal Reserve Bank ofMinneapolis, where he was senior vice president and director of research. He also has been an assistant professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton University and has taught economics at the University of Minnesota and Macalester College. He has a background in journalism and worked at daily newspapers in Illinois, Alabama and Wisconsin. Mr. Schulhofer-Wohl received his B.A. in physics from Swarthmore College and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.
