Peter J. Duhig is counsel in the Wilmington, Del., and Washington, D.C., offices of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, where he concentrates his practice on creditors' rights, focusing on commercial fore- closure, bankruptcy and related litigation as well as out-of-court workouts. For 15 years, Mr. Duhig has regularly appeared in federal and state courts throughout Delaware and Maryland, primarily rep- resenting secured creditors. In addition to assisting secured lenders with protecting their collateral, he has significant experience defending financial institutions in lender-liability cases. He also represents unsecured creditors, often in connection with ¤ 503(b)(9) claims and lease and contract issues, as well as preference and fraudulent conveyance actions. When not advising creditors, he represents the chapter 11 trustee of debtors involved in a Ponzi scheme. Mr. Duhig is a contributing author of Chapter 54 of Strategic Alternatives For and Against Distressed Businesses, published by Thompson West (2016 ed.). Prior to joining Buchanan, he was an associate at a bankruptcy boutique, where he served as debtors' counsel in several chapter 11 cases. Mr. Duhig received his B.A. from the University of Georgia in 1996 and his J.D. magna cum laude in 2000 from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, where he was an associate editor of the Catholic University Law Review.
