Patricia Mayer
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Hon. Patricia M. Mayer</strong> is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Reading, appointed on March 11, 2020, after 22 years of private practice representing consumers and small business debtors in bankruptcy. Prior to joining the bench, she focused her practice on representing individuals and small business owners in consumer bankruptcy cases, IRS collection matters and mortgage foreclosure defense. Judge Mayer was a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), where she served as the Third Circuit Community Leader. She also was a member of the board of directors for the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project (CBAP) and chaired the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference. In March 2014, Judge Mayer was selected to serve on the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Local Rules Committee and was tasked with drafting the Model Chapter 13 Plan currently being used in the district, along with revisions to other local procedures and rules. She is a frequent lecturer and course-planner for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference. Since joining the bench, Judge Mayer has reinstituted the ED PA Local Rules Committee and organized it as a standing committee. She is the judicial liaison to the committee and shepherds the yearly recommendations through the rule making process for the district. She also currently serves on the Educational Committee for the Federal Judicial Center and the Rules Committee for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ). Judge Mayer received her B.A. <em>magna cum laude</em> in politics from DeSales University and her J.D. from Temple University School of Law, where she received the Barrister’s Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy.</p>
