Michael R. Johnson is a shareholder at Ray Quinney & Nebeker PC in Salt Lake City and chairs the firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights section. He concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, corporate reorganizations, creditors’ rights and commercial and bankruptcy litigation, including debtor, committee, trustee and commercial representations under chapters 7, 11 and 13; pre bankruptcy workout negotiations and transaction structuring; representations involving preference, fraudulent transfer and other avoidance actions; representations involving federal and state court receiverships and real and personal property foreclosures, representations involving general commercial litigation matters; and secured transactions litigation and transaction structuring. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers of America and was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Litigation-Bankruptcy in 2015. He maintains an AV-Preeminent rating with Martindale-Hubbell and has also been named in Mountain States Super Lawyers.Mr. Johnson has been voted by his peers as one of Utah’s “Legal Elite” in the field of bankruptcy and insolvency law in Utah Business Magazine. A former judge pro tem in the Utah Third District Court, he is admitted to practice in the Supreme Courts of Utah and Arizona, the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Tenth and Eleventh Circuits. He is also a member of theUtah State, Salt Lake County, Tooele County, Arizona State and American Bar Associations, as well asABI, the Turnaround Management Association and the Utah Bankruptcy Lawyer’s Forum. Mr. Johnson received his B.S. summa cum laude in 1990 from Utah State University and his J.D. in 1994 from the University of Utah, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a note and comment editor of the Utah Law Review.
