Lynn Welter Sherman is a shareholder with Trenam Law in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she represents businesses, financial institutions, trustees, creditors, landlords, debtors, committees and other parties in bankruptcy, creditors’ rights and reorganization matters. She helps clients navigate all aspects of chapter7 and 11 bankruptcies, out-of-court workouts, loan modifications and restructurings, foreclosures, collection and enforcement of judgments, enforcement of security interests and creditors’ rights litigation.She also acts as a mediator in bankruptcy matters. Ms. Sherman is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and received the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association’s Douglas P. McClurg Professionalism Award in 2022. She has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights/Insolvency & Reorganization Law; Commercial Transactions/UCC Law; Litigation– Bankruptcy since 2008, and was named Lawyer of the Year for Bankruptcy & Creditor-Debtor Rights and Bankruptcy Litigation in 2020 and 2023, and she was listed in Florida Super Lawyers from 2011-22. In addition, she has been listed as one of Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, Bankruptcy and Workout, has been ranked in Chambers USA for Bankruptcy/Restructuring, made Tampa Magazine’s Top Lawyers list for 2019 and 2023, and is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell. Ms. Sherman is a member of the TampaBay Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Florida Bar’s Business Law Section, ABI, IWIRC, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the St. Petersburg Bar Association, for which she served as Bankruptcy Committee co-chair from 2007-09. She received her B.S. from FloridaSouthern College in 1980, her J.D. in 1983 from Stetson University College of Law, and her LL.M. in taxation in 1989 from New York University School of Law.
