Judith Popper is a professor of law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in Kansas City, Mo., where she teaches lawyering skills, consumer protection law (including a con- sumer lab focusing on practical skills) and bar-preparation courses. In summer 2015, she co-directed and taught comparative consumer law as part of UMKC's study abroad program in Ireland and Wales. She also volunteers as an advisor to Channel 41's "Call for Action" and supervises student participation there. Previously, Prof. Popper clerked for the Hon. Elmo B. Hunter of the U.S. District Court in Kan- sas City, then practiced with the firm of Shook, Hardy and Bacon in its business litigation section. She later joined the Consumer Protection Division of the Missouri Attorney General's Office, working as an AAG for over 15 years. Prof. Popper joined the UMKC faculty in 2001 while continuing to work with the Missouri AGO. In her last AGO trial, she obtained felony convictions against an individual accused of scamming the elderly in the sale of funeral services, in an unusual consolidation of criminal charges filed by the Missouri Attorney General and the Clay County Prosecutor. The jointly-tried criminal case led to convictions on all 23 felony counts. Prof. Popper received her J.D. from UMKC.
