Judith Elkin is a sole practitioner with Judith Elkin PLLC in New Rochelle, N.Y., and is a certified mediator and restructuring consultant. After 37 years of law firm practice, she retired as a partner from the Bankruptcy Section of Haynes and Boone. Ms. Elkin has worked on some of the largest, most contentious and complex insolvency cases, negotiated many large out-of-court restructurings, represented international financial institutions in cross-border insolvency cases and related litigation, and repre-<br>sented foreign representatives of foreign debtors seeking chapter 15 protection in the U.S. She speaks<br>frequently on insolvency issues both in the U.S. and internationally, and her recent projects include various mediation matters, including the mediation of mortgage indemnification claims in the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy case, representation of a supplier in the Sears cases, and consulting on the out-of-court restructurings of several commercial real estate projects in the Midwest. Ms. Elkin has chaired the IBA Insolvency Section, IWIRC, the ABA Litigation Section’s Bankruptcy & Insolvency Committee<br>and the ABA International Section’s Secured Transactions & Insolvency Committee. She also serves as<br>a delegate to UNCITRAL and is on the board of directors and membership co-chair of the International<br>Insolvency Institute. Ms. Elkin received her B.A. from SUNY Binghamton and her J.D. cum laude from the University of Wisconsin.
