John R. Burns, III
John R. Burns is a partner in the Fort Wayne, Ind., office of Faegre Baker Daniels and is a past chair of the firm's Finance Litigation practice. He concentrates his practice in bankruptcy/creditors' rights and business/commercial litigation. Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification, Mr. Burns regularly represents secured creditors and lenders in dealing with workout and bankruptcy situations. He represents corporate debtors in chapter 11 reorganizations and also has significant experience representing banks, corporations, trustees and committees in reorganizations and liquidations. Mr. Burns has more than 40 years' experience in the courtroom and has tried numerous business and commercial cases to verdict in federal and state courts to both the bench and juries. He chaired the ABA Litigation Section's Bankruptcy and Insolvency Litigation Committee for four years, is a Registered Civil Mediator for Indiana and has completed the ABI/St. John's University 40-Hour Bankruptcy Mediation Training program. He serves as a mediator in state and federal civil litigation and provides mediation services in bankruptcy cases. Mr. Burns received his B.A. in 1971 from Ball State University and his J.D. in 1974 from the University of Notre Dame.
