John B. Macdonald
John B. Macdonald is a partner with Akerman LLP in Jacksonville, Fla., where he focuses on complex<br>bankruptcy and restructuring matters as part of a broad commercial litigation practice. He represents major financial institutions in loan workouts, restructurings and foreclosures. Mr. Macdonald is recognized by Chambers USA as a leading bankruptcy and restructuring lawyer and was named a “Lawyer of the Year” for bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law by The Best Lawyers in America. He chaired The Florida Bar’s Bankruptcy/UCC Committee and has been a member<br>of the Executive Council of The Florida Bar’s Business Law Section, as well as president and chairman of the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association. Mr. Macdonald is admitted to practice before the Eleventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Nothern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. He received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1971 and his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1976, where he was magister of Phi Delta Phi and on the<br>board of editors of the University of Florida Law Review.
