James Mesterharm

James Mesterharm, CPA, CTP is a managing director with AlixPartners LLP in Chicago and leads its Turnaround and Restructuring Services Practice in North America. He has served in senior management positions in turnarounds such as CRO, COO and CFO. Mr. Mesterharm has been named the Global Turnaround Consultant of the Year by the Global M&A Network, was part of teams receiving annual awards for the successful restructurings of Zenith Electronics, General Growth Properties and Eastman Kodak Co. by the Turnaround Management Association, and was part of the team recognized by M&A Advisor for the Distressed Sale of the Year in the Walter Energy Restructuring. He currently serves as CRO of PG&E and served as restructuring advisor to ATD, Pacific Drilling, Linn Energy, Memorial Production Partners, First Energy and Paragon Offshore, among others. Mr. Mesterharm is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy. He received his B.S. in accounting and management from Purdue University and his M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg School in finance and organizational behavior.
