Fentrice D. Driskell
Fentrice D. Driskell is a shareholder with Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, P.A. in Tampa, Fla., where she represents banks and other financial institutions in commercial litigation and bankruptcy mat- ters. She also defends clients throughout all stages of consumer finance litigation involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act (FCCPA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) and Truth in Lending Act (TILA). Ms. Driskell partners with clients to develop poli- cies, procedures and compliance best practices with respect to state and federal consumer protec- tion laws, including the TCPA. In addition, she handles commercial and contested foreclosures and works with clients to enforce creditors' remedies in bankruptcy proceedings. As a business litigator, Ms. Driskell has handled cases involving breach of contract, civil theft, the Uniform Commercial Code, covenants not to compete, nonsolicitation clause disputes, theft of trade secrets, and unfair and deceptive trade practices. She also has experience litigating civil lawsuits to recover criminal restitution. Prior to joining Carlton Fields, Ms. Driskell clerked for Hon. Anne C. Conway, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She also previously interned for Magistrate Judge Andrew J. Peck of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Ms. Driskell is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and currently serves as president of the George Edgecomb Bar Association. She has been selected by Florida Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" each year since 2011, and in 2015, she was listed as an "Up-and-Comer" in Florida Trend's Florida Legal Elite. Mr. Driskell is admitted to practice in Florida and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Middle District of Florida, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She received her B.A. in 2001 from Harvard University, where she was the first African-American woman elected presi- dent of the Undergraduate Council, and her J.D. in 2004 from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a member of the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Team and received the Dean's Certificate for Outstanding Service to the Law Center Community.
