David M. Guess

David M. Guess is a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, LLP in Irvine, Calif., and specializes in business bankruptcy cases, out-of-court workouts and bankruptcy litigation. He represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, asset-purchasers, trustees, committees, litigation trusts, fraudulent-transfer defen- dants, landlords and others. Mr. Guess has particular expertise in real estate, hospital, skilled-nursing facility, retail and restaurant bankruptcies, bankruptcy appeals, and fraudulent-transfer litigation arising from failed LBOs and spinoffs. He has been recognized by ABI as a 2018 “40 Under 40” emerging lead- er in insolvency practice, in The Best Lawyers in America for his work in bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights, insolvency and reorganization law, and as in Southern California Super Lawyers. Mr. Guess is the secretary of the Southern California Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum. He is also a member of the boards of directors for those organizations, as well as the California Bankruptcy Forum and Orange County Bankruptcy Forum. In addition, he is the Communications Manager for ABI’s Commercial and Regulatory Law Committee. Mr. Guess received his B.A. magna cum laude in 2001 from the University of California at Los Angeles and his J.D. in 2005 from UCLA School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and an editor of the UCLA Law Review.
