Cassandra A. Shoemaker
Cassandra A. Shoemaker is counsel with McGuireWoods in Dallas, where she represents creditors, debtors and equity holders in complex corporate reorganizations and bankruptcy litigation in the U.S.and abroad. She has represented creditors in objecting to the adequacy of disclosure statements and confirmation of chapter 11 plans of reorganization and parties involved in preference and fraudulent transfer avoidance actions. In addition, she has experience advising on a range of bankruptcy and other insolvency-related issues, including lender-liability litigation and the implications of seeking bankruptcy relief.Ms. Shoemaker’s engagements have ranged across a wide array of industries, including energy, real estate, telecommunications and health care. She is admitted to practice before all Texas district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Shoemaker is a member of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, Dallas Bar Association’sBankruptcy Section, State Bar of Texas’s Bankruptcy Section, Turnaround Management Association,National Association of Women Lawyers, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and the Private Directors Association, and she was a certified mediator from 2007-09. She received her B.B.A. cum laude from Texas A&M University in 2006 and her J.D. summa cum laude from South Texas College of Law in 2009, where she received the Dean’s Scholar and Dean’s Merit Award, and was a member of the SouthTexas Law Review.
