Brian L. Blonder, CPA, ABV, CFE is a managing director at FTI Consulting in Washington, D.C., and leads its Intellectual Property (IP), Valuation and Damages practices. He has consulted on nu- merous engagements since his financial consulting career began in 1985, focusing on determining damages in disputed matters (often involving IP), or valuation of businesses and/or IP and other intangible assets, for a variety of purposes. In that regard, he has provided litigation and valuation consulting services in many industries, including automotive and truck (OEMs, financing entities, dealerships, suppliers), computers (hardware, components, software and peripherals), health care, medical products and supplies, pharmaceuticals and biotech, chemicals, Internet (including e-com- merce), telecommunications (including wireless, cable and satellite), industrial products, retail and electronics. Mr. Blonder has been recognized as an expert on damages and harm in federal and state courts, and his experience includes matters involving infringement, misappropriation, breach of contract, business interruption and tortuous interference, franchisor/franchisee relationships, unfair competition, breach of good faith, fraud and misrepresentation, as well as issues in the International Trade Commission such as public interest, domestic industry and remedy. He has analyzed lost profits, reasonable royalties, unjust enrichment, price erosion, irreparable harm and other damages estimation, analysis of financial performance and comparison of performance to peers, review of financial condition, determination of economic viability or unreasonable economic burden, applica- tion of cost accounting methodologies, consideration of historical business transactions and appli- cation of quantitative and statistical analysis. Previously, Mr. Blonder was a partner in the Financial Advisory Services (FAS) practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He was also a managing director at an IP consulting firm, a budget analyst at a military facility and a computer systems designer. Mr. Blonder received his B.S. in finance from Wayne State University and his M.B.A. in finance and information systems from the University of Michigan.
