Barry Lynch
Barry Lynch is a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal Restructuring in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. He specializes in providing distressed solutions to the financial services sector within corporate advisory, restructuring, insolvency, structured finance and fiduciary capacities. With more than 14 years of experience, Mr. Lynch is regularly appointed by the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands as an Official Liquidator and Receiver. Additionally, he has run numerous high-profile multi-jurisdictional insolvency, restructuring and advisory cases across the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, U.S., U.K., Europe and Asia. Mr. Lynch also has taken a lead role as a board director on behalf of various distressed structured finance collateralized debt-obligation deals. He has completed a number of capital market transactions, independent business reviews, and internal and external audits on behalf of multinational financial institutions, and he has provided advice and recommendations in contingency planning with respect to financial and operational control processes. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Lynch was with Rawlinson & Hunter’s corporate restructuring group, where he worked on a range of engagements across the financial services industry, including banking and capital markets, hedge funds, structured finance CDOs and collateralized loan obligations, aircraft leasing and shipping. Priot to that, he served with PwC in Ireland. Mr. Lynch is a Chartered Accountant in Ireland, a qualified insolvency practitioner in the Cayman Islands, and a CIMA-registered director. He also is a member of the Cayman Islands Society for Professional Accountants, INSOL International and RISA, the Cayman Islands chapter of INSOL and ABI. Mr. Lynch received his Bachelor’s degree in marketing from Technological University Dublin and his Master’s degree in accountancy from the National College of Ireland.
